How Wireless IOT Tech is Changing Waste Management

Earlier in 2019 we welcomed Wanless Waste Management as a valued zzoota client.

Not long ago it was impossible. Being able to know where a hook bin was located, how long it was onsite, when it left the holding yard and how many kilometers it had traveled…even knowing if the bin was on a safe angle or had a significant impact. This is all now achievable.

These industrial waste bins don’t have a power source.  They are a non-powered asset that moves. Perfect for the Space10X IoT GPS device.

Times have changed.

Advancements in zzoota’s IoT devices and battery technology is changing the game.  When you add AI across the data the ability to make the right decision at the right time is enhanced. Some might say it’s the new competitive advantage.

Here is a quick summary of the benefits:

  • Up to 2 year battery life on one charge (5 hours to recharge the device)

  • Instant bin location

  • Increased asset utlisation

  • Improvements in dispatching / scheduling

  • Reporting on how long the bin was onsite

  • When it entered and left a customers site or the company’s holding yards

  • Tracking the angle of the bin - so an alert can be created if an unsafe angle occurs

  • Reporting / being alerted on G-force impact to the bin

A bracket was designed and fabricated to hold the Space10X securely (in addition to the 12kg pull force from the internal device magnets). The light sensor alarm notifies the asset owner instantly if it’s removed from the bin.
