South East Queensland Hauliers Puts Safety First!

South East Queensland Hauliers (SEQH) is a company that has chosen to adopt innovative technology in their business, ultimately putting the safety and wellbeing of their drivers first.

IOTAI is deploying one of their partnering technologies zzoota and is changing the game in relation to driver safety and behaviour, using machine vision artificial intelligence technology to automatically capture road dangers and unsafe driving behaviour. Providing a simple and reliable recording service, captured/recorded events are automatically uploaded to zzoota’s subscription-based analytics platform offering rapid support and visibility to make the right decision based on risk.

At IOTAI we have been managing the rollout of zzoota’s SharpAi devices across SEQH’s fleet since December 2021, providing better transparency, communication, health and safety, driver training, and efficiency. SEQH have been using the cameras as a learning tool for their drivers, noticing a dramatic improvement in their driver behaviour around forward collision, close distance, and driver fatigue management.

zzoota’s SharpAi technology provides SEQH direct and immediate access to any alerts/events that are triggered. The SharpAi cameras capture the following events:

  • Driver Fatigue

  • Driver Distraction

  • No Driver Alert

  • Mobile Phone Use

  • Smoking Detection

  • Yawning

  • No Seatbelt

  • Lane Departure

  • Forward Collision

  • Tailgating

Additional SOS alarms were requested by SEQH, giving the drivers peace of mind that in the event of an accident they can capture at-fault/liable parties protecting both themselves and the company.

With the insight zzoota’s SharpAi provides and the ongoing support from both zzoota and IOTAI, SEQH have the capacity to improve how they schedule their drivers, now being able to assign the best and most appropriate driver for the job, optimising their business operations (long haul vs short haul vs location vs client).

With zzoota’s SharpAi Cameras installed in the cabin of each vehicle within their fleet, it was recently discovered one of SEQH’s night run drivers was showing heavy signs of fatigue on a regular basis. This was captured through the machine vision technology within the SharpAi device.

Concerned for the drivers’ well-being, the obvious fatigue event was raised with the driver uncovering a family man who spends the days with his younger children, and then proceeds to operate the vehicle of an evening for his night run. After shedding a light on the drivers’ personal life, SEQH worked with the driver to relocate him to an alternate shift. This has not only given him more time with his family and improved the circumstances of his livelihood, it's increased the safety of our roads.

zzoota’s CEO/Co-founder Aaron Zamykal says, "we are excited to be an integral part of SEQH’s safety and compliance strategy. SEQH’s investment into fleet technology via the zzoota solution will lead the market and ultimately deliver better outcomes for their drivers, customers and road users.”
