  • Read all cautions and warnings on the equipment.

  • Place this equipment on a reliable surface when installing. Dropping it or letting it fall may cause damage.

  • Make sure the correct voltage is connected to the equipment.

  • Keep this equipment away from humidity.

  • Disconnect this equipment from the A/C outlet before cleaning it. Use a moist cloth. Do not use liquid or sprayed detergent for cleaning.

  • Do not scratch or rub the screen with a hard object.

  • Never use any of the solvents, such as thinners, wax, benzene, abrasive cleaners, acid or alkaline solvents on the display. Harsh chemicals may cause damage to the enclosure and the touch sensor.

  • Remove dirt with a lightly moistened cloth and a mild solvent detergent. Then wipe the enclosure with a soft dry cloth.

  • If the devicewill not be used for an extended period, disconnect it from the power source to avoid damage by transient over-voltage.

  • Never pour any liquid into openings. This may cause fire or electrical shock.

 

Do not use the device if:
a. The power cord or plug is damaged.
b. Liquid has penetrated into the equipment.
c. The equipment has been exposed to moisture.
d. The equipment does not work well, or you cannot get it to work according to the user’s manual.
e. The equipment has been dropped or damaged.
f. The equipment has obvious signs of breakage.

4. Getting started

4.1 Charging the Site7X

Due to shipment regulations the battery is partially drained when the device is delivered to you. Be sure to fully charge the battery when you are charging it for the first time.

Tips:
Always use DC charging if available. The device uses a unique patented power supply design that uses the power supplied by DC input or USB type-C input first, rather than the power which store in the internal battery. This enhanced design extends the life of the battery and improves safety.

  1. The device is charging when mounted into the optional docking station and power delivered via the DC port.

  2. The device can be charged by a 5V 2A input through the docking station and via a USB type-C cable directly into the device.

Warning
Please ensure that the input voltage of the DC interface is within the range of 8V-36V or use the optional 12V adapter. If the input voltage of the DC is outside this range the tablet may be unable to charge or damaged and will void the warranty.

4.2 Power and Sleep

This chapter describes how to power on/off the device, and put the device into sleep mode.

Proper operation of powering on/off the device will be beneficial to ensure the stability of the system. The device status is indicated by the colour of the indicator light and is described in the following table.

Power on

  1. Hold down the red power button for more than 2 seconds until the zzoota logo is displayed. In approximately 40 seconds the operating system will load. The indicator light will be on.

  2. Power on by connecting ACC, see the details in Chapter 3.3 ‘Using ACC’.

  3. Power consumption during activation:5W Typical Value Power off

  4. Hold down the red power button for more than 2 seconds until the shutdown box pop-up appears, then click the ‘POWER OFF’ option.

  5. Power off by ACC, see the details in the Chapter 3.3 ‘Using ACC’.

  6. In order to reduce the standby power consumption the red light is on during charging and will turn off when fully charged.

  7. The energy consumption during powering of (with docking station) is approximately 100mW.

Sleep Mode

  1. The auto sleep time can be set in the device settings

  2. Short press red power button to activate device sleep mode

  3. Short press red power button to wake the device

  4. Sleep by ACC, see the details in Chapter 3.3 ‘Using ACC’

  5. Wake by ACC, see the details in Chapter 3.3 Using ACC’

  6. The average power consumption in sleep mode is approximately 1W

4.3 SIM Card

When you receive your Site7X, it will come with a SIM card preinstalled for your convenience, unless otherwise discussed with zzoota.

If you need to change the SIM card for any reason, follow the below steps:

  1. Power off the device

  2. Locate the SIM card slot on the side of the device

  3. Insert card as indicated and fully insert until it locks into place

  4. Lock the interface cover

Note: If the supplied SIM card is removed and inserted into another device, it will deactivate. Reactivating the SIM card will require the completion of a Support Ticket, and may incur a fee.

5. Docking Station Instructions

5.1 Docking the Site7X

Align the tablet to the limit slot of docking station as below in Fig 4.1

 

Pull the buckle up as shown in Fig. 4.2 below.

 

Push the tablet back so that it attaches to the docking station via the snap joint, as shown in Fig. 4.3 below.

 

Release and finish the installation as shown in Fig. 4.4 below.

 

5.2 Undocking the Site7X

Stretch the buckle upwards to release it from the device, as shown in Fig. 4.5 below.

 

Remove the device as shown in Fig. 4.6 below.

 

6. Applications

6.1 zzoota Application

Your Site7X will come with the custom zzoota application preinstalled. Depending on the version purchased, this will be the OBD-II or J1939 application.
This application gathers all the data from the tablet to send back to Link.
This smart “launch on power on” application is set and forget – once your tablet is turned on, you can exit the app and move on.

6.2 Heavy Vehicle Navigation

Sygic, zzoota’s heavy vehicle navigation application will come preinstalled on your tablet. If you’ve purchased a license with your device, this will be activated and ready to go when your tablet arrives.
If you wish to activate a license after purchase, contact zzoota through our Support Ticket Portal.
To set up the navigation for your asset, follow the instructions below:

 

6.3 Pre-Start Checklist

The Browser application on your new tablet will house your Pre-Start Checklist.

6.4 Custom Applications

Any custom applications you’ve selected when purchasing your tablet will also come preinstalled – if you need to add any after purchase, contact us through our Support Ticket Portal.

  • If your Site7X is out of the Docking Station, make sure the it has battery. It can take up to 1 hour of charging with the power off to allow the tablet to turn on. Use the USB-C cable supplied with your tablet with 5V to charge.

    If your Site7X is installed in a Docking Station it should turn on when the vehicle is started. If the tablet doesn’t turn on when the asset is started, ask your installed to check the accessory (ACC) wiring.
    If you’d like to check with zzoota about our recommended installers, fill out a Support Ticket in our Client Portal.

  • zzoota Site7X tablets are designed to turn off after five minutes of not receiving a signal to the accessory (ACC) wire when installed in a Docking Station. This is to ensure the tablet does not drain the battery of the asset.

    If the device is wired correctly into the accessory line (ACC), it will turn on when the vehicle is started. If it does not receive a signal to this wire continuously, it will turn off again after the five minutes have elapsed.

    To fix this, check the ACC wiring between the Docking Station and the vehicle, as well as the seating of the OBD-II or J1939 (power) connector.

  • To change the volume, select the zzoota application on the homepage of your device, and move the slider up or down.

  • Your Site7X’s smart light sensor will set the correct level of brightness for is environment.
